Education
Naïde Obiang demonstrates a longstanding commitment to education. Her work revolves around fostering access to educational pathways for Gabonese individuals while actively promoting education as a foundation for success among African immigrants more broadly.
Gabonese Scholarship Fund
In 2016, Naïde Obiang initiated the A.G.W.E. Scholarship Fund with the support of fellow organizational leaders and in collaboration with Montgomery College in Rockville, MD. The initiative provided educational funding and support to Gabonese students in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area who demonstrated financial need. Following the 2016 presidential election and the resulting political unrest in Gabon, Obiang independently established the Gabonese Scholarship Fund to continue supporting Gabonese international students in their academic pursuits. The fund, which was awarded based on financial need and/or merit, is currently on hold until further notice.
From 2019 to 2020, Obiang served as the CEO of Nomel Global, a nonprofit organization based in Montgomery County, Maryland. The organization’s mission is to support education, community development, and the empowerment of women, while fostering academic excellence for children, leadership, and service as pathways to hope and sustainable community impact.
